"The Inspiration"

Mule deer will continue to be right up there among my most favorite animals. This scene was inspired by Northwest Colorado where I once resided. Black Mountain sits on the horizon with a morning storm overhead. A large buck stands proudly with his does. The muleys make their annual migration down from the high-country towards the safety of their wintering grounds where they will find food and a bit of warmth from time to time until spring arrives. With the does deciding to leave and his head turned abruptly, I wonder what might be behind us.
