NEXT DROP:
"Lakeside Heaven"
A couple of years back, far up at the end of a mountain road, I watched the sun rise up and shine into the valley I was in. The light crested the ridge and illuminated the distant rocks along the horizon. Against the blue of the atmosphere, it created the perfect balance of colors. There were ponds and backwater all along the valley's floor, which gave me the inspiration for the water.
I'm in search of something more this year. I've become increasingly focused on observing our relationship with the landscape and of course, the wildlife as well.
I love being out on the water with a paddle in hand. Drifting along on a crisp, calm morning is something I could dream about and I think I wanted this canoer to steal your attention in this painting.
If I were to sum up what I was thinking about on that perfect morning while deep in that canyon, I think that this painting would be it. The cool air is cut by the warm of a fire, the sound of wingbeats hum above, and the welcoming feeling of a lakeside cabin puts my mind at ease.
