"A Glorious Moment"

We hiked for 5 hours and climbed nearly 4000ft before arriving at this beautiful location. The water was crystal blue, almost teal, and the mountains towered over us in magnificent fashion.

There was no waterfall here, and it was the middle of a blue sky day, but I could imagine a place where my creativity ran wild. I spent the afternoon with my plein air box painting up a scene that attempted to capture what I was after. After a few hours, I put it away and decided to use what I had to reference a more detailed piece back in the studio.

It's no question that I love to capture light. I daydream so often at the places I visit and imagine what could be. This painting I wanted to capture just that. It was such a great experience at this location and it has inspired me to do more with it. The painting here however gives insight into my first impressions and what I felt while being there.
