"Waiting For Spring"
Bighorns have eluded me for quite some time now. I've either hadn't had a camera handy, or they've been tough to find. Summers especially they can be difficult to locate around here as they typically migrate high up in the mountains where they can stay cool and feel safe. So when I was able to locate some down lower where it's easier access, I knew I had to capitalize on the opportunity. I wanted to capture a brilliant glow in the sky, a hint of snow in the foreground, and the beauty of the ram's surroundings. The first of two paintings, this ram stands quietly under the warm springtime sun, waiting for the snow to recede.
Specifics:
12x16" acrylic/oil painting - canvas panel
